So much for a leisurely “cruise” with the top down…
But what’s the fun in that?!
Reigning French drift champion, Benjamin Boubles, decided to go full on ‘Murica under the hood of his BMW E93 M3 and swapped out his 4.0-liter V8 S65 for a 376ci 6.2-liter LSX.
As if the 400 plus horsepower from the LSX376-B18 engine wasn’t enough, Benjamin opted for a 4.5-liter Whipple blower that you can see peeping out of the hood in this video. We think he has great taste seeing as how it is almost the exact same combo we are putting in Project True SStreet. As of right now, the car is pushing close to 900 horsepower.
Of course, a drift car is not a true drift car without some craziness on the outside, too, right? Benjamin chose to completely remove the convertible top (which is a good choice in many peoples’ opinion), and opted for a full-on roll cage in its place. Aside from the obvious wide body kit and flashy livery, this build features a Matter Motorsports roll cage, GT Radial Champiro SX2 tires, KW Suspensions 3-way Competition Kit, a Wisefab Lock Kit, and one crazy loud exhaust setup.
Benjamin Boubles is no stranger to LS-swapped bimmers, either, as one of his most notorious past builds was a 600 horsepower LS-powered E36 3-series. From what we’ve seen, this E93 of his rips!.. and it’s proven, as it is constantly taking home trophies in french drift championships.
Overall, it seems this professional drifter’s choice of American over German is a wise one. See it in action below.
