The foundation for creating big horsepower that’s also reliable is the engine block, and there’s more than one way to build that foundation. A block might require some very specific machining work done for a particular application, and that’s where Dart comes in. Not only does Dart manufacture engine blocks, but they can customize your new block just the way you want it right from the factory, and have it ready for assembly when it’s delivered.
The concept of creating custom blocks for customers is nothing new, according to Dart’s Richard Maskin. “We’re in the dream business — they have a dream and want to engineer their own engine, so we help make it happen. This process has evolved over the 20 years of that we’ve been producing blocks. We’ve always made special blocks for customers and made modifications, but we decided to put a title on it and make it more visible.”
Dart has the ability to create a block that fits just nearly any type of build you can dream up, and they’ll help guide the customer through the process. “We’ll let a customer know if something they’re trying to do either has mechanical restrictions or just doesn’t make sense for their goals,” Maskin explains. A customer can request items like bigger cam cores, lifter bore resizing, larger bore sizes, provisions for stroker kits, and special block prep. And these are just a few of the options Dart provides for customizing the block.
After the block has been fully optioned, Dart begins the process of creating the block. “We’ll customize it to a finished product where the end user can start assembling the motor. The block will be honed, cleaned, and ready to go when they receive it,” Maskin says.
So, if you’re looking for a new block for your racecar make sure to contact Dart to see what they can do for you!
