Us fans had high hopes for the Camaro ZL1 upon its release. It was advertised as a total track toy, pushing upwards of 650 horsepower and fitted with plenty of performance bits. And, boy, did Chevy deliver.

When finally put to the test, the ZL1, rocking the now-famous 10-speed, laid down an extremely impressive 7:29.60 lap time at the Nürburgring– an improvement of 11.67 seconds over its predecessor.

But, this drastic improvement still obviously didn’t fully satisfy GM. Early this year, they took the fan-favorite sports car and slapped on even more go fast goodies, shaved off even more weight, and called it the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, “the ultimate track-day Camaro.”

The amount of downforce this thing produces, paired with the 6.2-liter LT4, Formula-1 inspired suspension, and Goodyear Eagle F1 3R tires is going to make for an absolutely killer track combination. A combination that’s said to be incomparable to any of its predecessors–including the relatively new ZL1 that it’s based on.

Just recently, we’ve seen some spy clips of the 1LE testing on the Nürburgring, but now, its official– we’ll be seeing these lap times very soon. General Motors just released a teaser video showing an outline of the ‘Ring and a Camaro ZL1 1LE, with some pretty mean sounds in the background. See it for yourself.

As stated before, this new 1LE is allegedly 3-seconds faster than the previous ZL1 around the 2.9-mile Milford track. So, in comparison, we can’t wait to see how it does on the 12.9-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife.
