If the new C7 Corvette wasn’t already customizable enough, Chevrolet just added another element of personalization to it’s “Plastic Fantastic” sports car.
When the C7 was introduced, folks were up in arms about the taillights, rear quarter side window and the busy-ness of the exterior styling and add-ons.
Well consider that problem solved. You can now order your new C7 with essentially a monochromatic body. It visually erases all of the functional vents on the car, leaving mostly nothing to jar the eye.
You can’t please all of the people all of the time, but with the uber personalization of the new C7, Chevrolet is trying it’s darnedest. We think the body color vents are cool, but color dependent. The red and yellow are especially fetching.
Even in mono-chromatic body color, the excessive–though fully functional–vents still stir controversy.
Our editorial office saw an outburst of opinion as well. Two polar opposite editors from Power Automedia, Trevor Anderson of Turnology and Chase Christensen of LSXMag, have joined forces against your humble Corvette Online scribe and have found an unlikely unity declaring the body colored pieces, “awful.” Really guys?
If there is any drawback regarding this news, is it adds even more complexity in ordering the ‘Vette of your dreams. We have counseled many prospective C7 buyers to look online, visit forums and car shows to get a feel for the myriad of color and trim combinations now available from Chevrolet.
Anyway, there could be worse things in the world than a fully customizable ‘Vette straight from the factory, huh?
The golden age of Detroit is NOW. Rejoice.
