Chevy announced the release of multiple new exterior paint colors for 2017, along with a plethora of other exciting additions to the Corvette– one of these new paint colors being Sterling Blue Metallic (which, honestly, was one of the less exciting announcements).
Just a simple Google search reveals the color wasn’t exactly deemed popular, with many people even claiming it was boring. We’re not agreeing or disagreeing in this case… which probably isn’t a good thing, because its kind of hard to make a ‘Vette look anything less than spectacular. But, still, additional colors are always fun, no matter how bland they may be.
But alas, we are somewhat sad to see this color go– as GM recently announced that it is already retiring. The last day to order a Sterling Blue ‘Vette will be Feburary 16, 2017 and the last week of production will soon follow, on March 20th. With this news, this may just be the rarest color for the Corvette’s 2017 model year. Today, there are only about 70 of these pale blue babies in the entire nation.
Something that is still worth a mention, though, is the near completion of Bowling Green’s new Corvette paint shop. Who knows… maybe that will warrant a fresh new color mid-year.
So, people of the internet, if you don’t like this color… what would you choose as a replacement? Something different? We vote bright orange. Tell us in the comments below.
