The 1,000 Horsepower Exorcist: Hennessey’s Answer To The Demon

As much as we hate to admit it, there is absolutely no doubt that the Dodge Demon is going to be incredible, supposedly pushing more power than the 707 horsepower Hellcat. The public hasn’t seen or heard much more about it other than some teaser videos, but that hasn’t stopped John and the team over at Hennessey from whipping up a monster to put the Demon to shame–or perhaps exorcise the Demons.

Behold, their newest creation: The Exorcist.

It’s appropriately named, as the ZL1 Camaro’s existing LT4 V8 was dramatically increased to a whopping 1,000 horsepower and 966 lb-ft of torque and should be easily capable of vanquishing any Demons you happen to come accross. As with usual Hennessy builds, the power is brought on thanks to a series of fine-tuned modifications, most notably including a larger high flow supercharger and intercooler system making 14 psi.

The system is brought together with ported factory cylinder heads, a cam upgrade, longtube headers, a high-flow air induction system, and, of course, a custom tune.

“Equipped with rear drag radial tires, The Exorcist will deliver 0-60 mph times under 3 seconds while running the ¼ mile in less than 10 seconds,” said John Hennessey, founder and president of Hennessey Performance. “However, THE EXORCIST TM is not just a ¼-mile racer. It’s a well-rounded super muscle car that is just as happy on a road course as it is on the dragstrip and street. Needless to say, this will leave the competition’s heads spinning.”

The Exorcist upgrade isn’t cheap by any means– but, in our opinion, is oh so worth it. At $55,000, it comes completely turn-key, including a two-year 24,000 mile warranty. You can even wander into your local dealership and order one on the spot, making it possibly the easiest 1,000 horsepower you could ever come by–if you’ve go the dough.

For ZL1’s equipped with an automatic transmission, that starting price shoots up to $64,950. …Giving you just another reason to go with the manual.

There are two add-ons available, as well: the drag pack and the road race pack. The drag pack comes at a price of $8,995 and includes a pair of 20 inch wheels with 315/30-20 Nitto drag radial tires, a drive shaft upgrade, floor jack and tool kit much like the Demon. The more street oriented road race pack comes with two 20 inch lightweight Hennessey wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires for $6,995.

If you are interested in owning one of the 100 Exorcists being produced this year, you can either purchase the vehicle directly from Hennessey or a Chevrolet dealer, or send in your existing ZL1. After completion, the Exorcist can be picked up at Hennessey’s very own ¼ mile dragstrip, Lonestar Motorsports Park, near Houston, Texas or delivered straight to your hometown. Demons be gone–the power of Chevrolet compels you.
