Video: New Brazilian Commercial for 2011 Chevy Camaro

[1]The Chevy Camaro may have been made in America, but it has worldwide appeal. People from countries as physically and culturally distant as Iran still have an appreciation for the Camaro, though don’t expect GM to export any Camaros to the Mullahs anytime soon.

However, GM is exporting the 2011 Camaro to a number of other, friendlier countries from Europe to South America. Check out this recent commercial from Brazil for the Camaro. It’s a new, Portuguese take on a classic Chevy slogan, “In the silence of my Chevrolet.” It’s more music video than car advertisement.

The video beings innocuously enough, with a scruffy young dude hopping into his Camaro. Then come the guitars and semi-hard rock music and the Camaro starts driving through some of your standard city scenes. Then it just happens to come across a warehouse/tunnel loaded with obstacles and debris. The perfect chance for the Camaro to start pulling off some slick driving maneuvers to some rock music.

It’s a pretty great video, even if we can’t understand the lyrics. It’s the best commercial we’ve seen so far that featured the Camaro, which had managed to sell like hotcakes despite a dearth in advertising.

Camaro5 [2] even went so far as to post a loose translation of the lyrics.

“It is the silence of a Chevrolet, that my heart beats louder … As the world loses its way, I find myself in me, and here’s what I’ll always follow …. my heart beats louder …. within a Chevrolet … beats louder in a Chevrolet … As the world loses its way, I find myself in me, and here’s what I’ll always follow my heart …. …. beats louder within a Chevrolet … beats louder in a Chevrolet …

Basically the song borrows from not one, but two old Chevy slogans (the second being Heartbeat of America, or in this case South America).  Got to hand it to the Brazilians for stringing those two slogans together with rock music and a hard-driving Camaro.
