Back in the day, racing drivers often didn’t use seatbelts (believing it was better to be ‘thrown free’ than caught in a burning car), and tracks didn’t have much runoff or any safety barriers to speak of. In fact, at one point the famous Le Mans course’s “safety” precaution for keeping cars from hitting trackside hazards was “paint the tree trunks white to make drivers miss them.”

In this video, we get to ride along with a supercharged C5 Corvette as it laps the CDS Farms & Motorsports Park road course, and see that they’ve gone old school – those trees look awfully close to the road, and they’re definitely not painted white. In fact, other than one bit of guardrail protecting what looks like a sheer drop, this course is just a winding ribbon of asphalt threading its way around the property.
From the video description, we know that this Corvette rides on a Z51 suspension, with CCW 505 wheels shod in BFGoodrich KDW tires, that the ProCharger [2]under the hood is making 6 PSI, and the exhaust is by Flowmaster. From watching the video, we can definitely say that they couldn’t have picked a better time of day to shoot, taking advantage of “golden hour” light to make a really beautiful piece of footage.
While there’s a certain “assumption of risk” involved in running a course like this Fayetteville, Arkansas track, we have to say that it looks like a hell of a lot of fun as long as you keep it under 10/10ths and save a little bit in reserve to keep your car out of the trees…
