On an episode of Top Gear, when it was still Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson raced across New Zealand in a rental car trying to beat James May to Cape Reinga. He opined his argument on why rental cars were the fastest cars in the world. “When was the last time you took your car to the red line or you drove it flat out? Never. But here, in this, now, yes, because it isn’t mine!” he states while throwing his Toyota Corolla rental car around a dirt path as if it were a Group B rally car.

It looks like these guys really took that ideology to heart and perhaps a little further. After renting a CTS-V from their local Hertz location, they decided to install a shot of nitrous and apply a canned tune to the ECU for some added punch. After some test runs at a drag strip, the video proceeds to showcase the Rental CTS-V’s victims like a Mitsubishi Evo X, Chevrolet C6 Corvette, and even a Maserati Gran Turismo. Suffice it to say, they didn’t pull their punches on these unsuspecting drivers.

The best part of this is that all the wear and tear they inevitably put on the unassuming CTS-V isn’t their problem anymore! Hertz simply accepted the car back with no questions asked. Unfortunately, like most rental cars, this CTS-V will eventually be sold off to some unsuspecting buyer. Or worse, perhaps an opportunistic gear head will jump on what appears to be a low price, used CTS-V hoping to build on the platform only to find out that the engine has been prepped for nitrous!
