This winter has been unusually hard on the northeast, with one storm after another dropping waves of snow across multiple states. Urban areas unprepared to deal with the massive accumulations of snow have been hardest hit, making getting from place to place (or even just finding a parking space) an ordeal. In Boston and Chicago, taking somebody else’s painstakingly shoveled street parking is an invitation to get your tires slashed or windshield broken. Snow is serious business, especially this year.

First try with a skateboard. Result: Failure.

But with the right attitude and the right car, the snow can provide all sorts of recreational opportunities as well. In this video, we see a pair of friends from Lancaster, Pennsylvania make the most of a fresh layer of snow in the Conestoga Valley High School parking lot. Kale, behind the wheel of a 2004 Pontiac GTO, does the driving, while Matt gets pulled behind with a makeshift tow rope.

At first, Matt tries a skateboard, but that experiment ends quickly, and with predictable results. Undaunted, he switches to a snowboard and it’s game on. Kale drifts, Matt shreds, and they manage to miss all the light posts, curbs, and other obstacles partially hidden beneath the blanket of white.

Oh crap…

Just goes to show that you can make the best of any situation. No lift lines or crowded slopes for this pair – just some winter fun in a parking lot all to themselves.
