Video: The 88mm Turbo “Ramaro”

From time to time there is a joining of different beasts that is so disturbing… so unthinkable… so repulsive, that labels like unholy or heresy are attached to the offspring of such paring. The merging of a Dodge Ram with Chevrolet Camaro is one of those unthinkable combinations. So distasteful that we almost didn’t watch the video, but watch it we did, and with great excitement discovered that the unholy union produced a truck that was pleasant to watch.

This unique blend of Dodge and GM makes for one angry snot-slinging Ram.

Starting from the NOS purge shooting from the Ram hood ornament’s nose to the four-wheel drive violent launch, there is a lot to like about this unconventional build. If you are a fan of unique modified builds, this truck has to be high on your list of favorites. Ramaro is an odd combination of 1988 Dodge Ram truck melded with a mostly stock LS2 engine. The name is an odd choice because the LS2 engine never came from the factory in a Camaro. Trailblazer, GTO,  and SSR were some of the vehicles that could be found with the base 400hp LS2 engine installed. Ramblazer would probably be a more accurate moniker.

The Ramaro normally runs down the track in four-wheel drive but does burn-outs in two-wheel drive.

The LS2 engine has become surprisingly popular for it’s ease in upgrading to individual performance goals, and this room for improvement is exactly why you see LS swaps in vehicle like a Dodge Ram truck. The Ramaro owner chose to add a Precision PT8891 CEA Billet Ball Bearing turbo with 8psi boost and a A2W intercooler as the power adder that provides the muscle that is unexpected by most bystanders.

There’s plenty of room under the hood for future upgrades.

Obviously a nitrous plate kit is installed as seen with the Ram’s nostrils blowing cold air in a display of might. Despite being roundly criticized as being blasphemous, this unique blend of different creatures is a wild ride that qualifies as a surprising sleeper to everyone that watches it run. All this… and on street tires.
