We are going to have to plan a trip to Australia apparently, because our friends at Fullboost have been bringing us great videos of the incredible car culture down under. For proof, just listen to the lineup of this year’s King of the Street finale: Quentin Feast’s ‘74 Holden with twin-turbo GM LS 403 V8 matched up against the single turbo HEMI 6 Valiant Charger of Brad Keems… What?
Held at Heathcote Park Raceway in Australia, the Valiant Charger was no match for the ‘74 Holden. Feast was incredibly consistent throughout the entire elimination rounds and dispatched car after car consistently running in the mid 8’s. In the finale he slowed down a bit, but still managed to get the win light. Feast still ran a 9.48 at 170 MPH to capture the victory.
Details of the 1974 Holden LH Torana:
- GM LS V8 engine 403ci
- LQ9 block, stock LS3 heads and manifolds
- Hydraulic roller camshaft, stock rockers
- Garrett GT3582R turbos @ 15.4 PSI
- Twin 3.5/3in exhaust, wastegates plumbed in
- MoTeC M150 ECU, E85 pump fuel
- Paul Rogers Powerglide, TCE 2500 RPM stall converter
- 9-inch axle, 3.25:1 Trutrac differential
- MT X275 Pro Radial tires
- Built at home, street driven
Not only did Feast take home the overall victory in the King of the Street, but he also claimed the award for the best ET and MPH of the day. Not too shabby for a ‘74 Holden Torana! Enjoy the video and we hope to see even more from the wild car culture that is occurring down in Australia.
