The guys over at 1320video finally caught up with the fastest CTS-V in the world, and a personal favorite ours that we’ve seen floating around in new trim since TX2K17. There are two things that immediately draw your eye to this car, other than the massive meats out back, and that’s either the turbo peaking through the grill where the Cadillac symbol used to reside, or the routing of the exhaust out of the hood.
According to the owner, this particular Caddy is the current record holder for the quickest CTS-V in all the land. Its best pass to date is a 7.65 at 181 mph, which is insanely quick considering just how large the car really is. However, that pass was accomplished on the previous setup that featured twin 7675 turbos.
Prospeed Autosports put together the new setup and made the decision to convert the car over to a single, 106 mm turbo which peeks out from behind the V’s grill. Many will question the decision to go single, including us, when the previous package was so potent. However, the car’s owner points out in the video that moving things over to the single snail helped to reduce weight and the new 106 mm Precision turbo should produce more power than the previous setup.
As you’ll see in the video, the V sports badges that have been inscribed with a “2,000+ HP” inlay denoting the power level the guys are shooting for with this beast. The massive turbo is feeding a relatively small power plant, which just so happens to be a 400 cubic inch LSX. The whole car is run by a ProEFI system and the guys at ProSpeed say they are hoping to go high 6s with the car. The owner even jokes that he hopes it goes 6.92—which would have made it the fastest run at TX2K, besting the R35 shown going 6.937 at the first of the video.
And while the car looks absolutely stunning, the results of what is realistically the initial testing is obviously disappointing to the guys. The car ends up going a best of 8.58 at 169.85 mph—nowhere near the 6-second mark they were shooting for. But hey, seeing as how the car literally got finished just the night before they brought it out to test, it’s not surprising that the new build still has some kinks to work out.
In what appears to be a doubly disheartening event, they put the V up against ProSpeed’s owner in his “Unicorn” Corvette. The Corvette is running twin 82 mm BorgWarner turbos that are capable of throwing 45-50 pounds of boost at the 400 cubic inch LME mill. All of this equates to well north of 2,000 horsepower as well. To bring the turbos up to speed, the Corvette is also spraying up to 400 horsepower worth of nitrous out of the hole.
While both cars should be capable of easily going deep into the 7s, both owners walk away with 8-second passes and some work to do. We have no doubts that both these cars will be back at it again soon and we’ll be waiting to see if the V can dip into the 6s.
