Donuts & Burnouts at the QA1 Cruise and Open House

It was an exceptional day at QA1 world headquarters for the 6th Annual Open House and #goDRIVEit cruise to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Why? Because there were donuts, coffee, plenty of cool cars, plenty of burnouts – and yet no Mustangs were harmed (I kid!).

The fine folks at QA1 provided an open invite to see where the magic happens. Manufacturing, quality control, packaging, shipping and even product developments are handled inside the 83,000 square foot facility in Lakeville, MN. Spoiler alert: there weren’t a lot of surprises here. It is a clean and organized facility that seems to run like a Swiss watch, and is filled with the good, hard working sort you’d expect from the upper midwest. Not only that, they are car guys and girls. In fact, if you have never been, the state is crawling with enthusiasts as we later found out when the 27-mile cruise led us to the 2017 Street Machine Nationals.

The inviting atmosphere brought about a diverse lot of well over 100 cars. QA1’s parking lots and loading dock was filled with classic muscle, late model muscle, hot rods, rat rods, kit cars, and even a few imports. There was even a Ferrari 308 for the Magnum P.I. lovers. If ever there was a candidate for an LS swap.

The event kicked off at 7 am this morning, though many were there well in advance. Tours were given every ten minutes, and towards the end there was a drawing for Optima batteries and a set of QA1 double adjustable shocks. The main event, though, is leaving the facility. There are some unsanctioned burnouts that occur in a controlled manner as the parade heads to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds around 9 am.

We look forward to coming back to kick off this tradition with QA1 in its seventh year. Stay tuned for more coverage of the 2017 Street Machine Nationals.
