All Out Custom: This 6.0 LS Powered 1950 Cadillac Built To Impress

There is something inherently cool about the frontend of a 1950 Cadillac.

Since it’s introduction in 1902 , Cadillac has been the crown  jewel of General Motor’s lineup. In 1950, the Post War economy was booming, and Americans were demanding bigger, more powerful, and more luxurious cars than ever before. Cadillac Motor Division was the answer for many people who could afford the best thing on four wheels.

This Cadillac, was built by Griffey’s Hot Rods and Restorations, for John Rogers of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The finished ride redefines what it means to be a classic luxury car. At a quick glance, you immediately know there is something special about this car. But, since its appearance has not been heavily modified, you still know it’s a classic Cadillac.

The 6.0-liter LS engine looks really nice under the hood of this classic Caddy.

This beauty defines luxury and power with a 6.0-liter LS engine, a 4L80E automatic transmission, and a 9-inch rearend with 3.50 gears. For control, stability, and ride quality. The front underpinnings are from Fat Man Fabrication, and utilizes power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, and Accu-Air ride-height adjusters.

When it comes to interior luxury, this car has more features than most modern cars. It has Vintage Air A/C, power windows, and power seats. The instruments are a custom design by Classic Instruments that both modernizes the look of the dash, while retaining the classic style that this car embodies. The upholstery is also slathered in leather with a custom-built center console.

While this Caddy started life as a luxury car back in 1950, the resbuild puts it leagues above what General Motors could even dream of back then.

One of the more unique features about the car that goes unnoticed by most people, are the one-off custom wheels by Smith Works. Although the wheels look like the stock Cadillac wheels with sombrero-style hubcaps, they are in fact, one-piece, 17-inch wheels machined out of aluminum to look like the original hubcaps. “That is not a hubcap,” Larry explained. “That is a solid billet wheel.”

The custom wheels look just like a classic Cadillac hubcap, but are in reality, custom, one-piece aluminum wheels!

The folks at Griffey’s Hot Rod and Restoration did a spectacular job putting this build together. They were able to retain the styling and classic look of the ’50 Caddy, while adding the modern flair that a build like this deserves. Their custom touches have earned this car numerous awards, and it’s deserved each one. This ’50 Cadillac is one that we’d definitely love to have in our garage.
