If you have driven a newer model GM vehicle with the drive by wire throttle body, then you can probably figure out what the Pedal Max from JMS Automotive Performance Group does. For those of you that haven’t driven a newer vehicle, we will fill you in.
When you drive one of GM’s newer vehicles, you will notice that the throttle response is very reluctant to react. You give it gas, and it will start to move but in a languid fashion. You give it a little more throttle, and it starts to go a bit better, but depending on your driving style this might not be up to par. The delay in the pedal was designed by GM for smooth, comfortable acceleration from stoplight to stoplight. I don’t know about you, but getting beat off the line by a Prius due to a slow responding pedal sounds excruciating.
Luckily JMS Automotive has developed the Pedal Max to cure your acceleration pedals woes. This simple plug and play box will work with any fly-by-wire GM vehicle from 2008-2019. You plug the box inline between the factory harness and the accelerator pedal. It has a dial that will adjust the pedal sensitivity from the factory setting all the way to very aggressive. According to Brad Grissom, Vice-President of JMS, ” You can adjust the Pedal Max on the fly. You turn the rheostat to the desired setting and you’re done.”
