SEMA 2014: Holley’s New LS Parts – Throttle Bodies And Swap Oil Pans

holley2The General Motors LS engine platform has expanded in popularity over the last several years, and for good reason. The General saw fit to equip the engines with a host of parts that were easily adaptable to the performance industry.

In addition, they breathe well, handle tons of boost or nitrous even in stock form, and are plentiful; installed in everything from the Corvette to the base pick-em-up trucks, every scrapyard in the country has multiple variations of the LS just waiting for an enterprising soul to rescue it and abuse it to death in their project.

The guys at Holley Performance Products are on the cutting edge of LS parts development, and they had a number of new products on display at SEMA for the platform. Three throttle bodies are available; a 95mm unit and a pair of 105mm units. The 95mm and ‘small’ 105mm unit have tapered throttle bores to assist in low-rpm street friendly driving, and the ‘straight’ 105mm unit that’s all business, all the time, ideal for all-out racing applications.

Each throttle body comes equipped with Idle Bleed adjustment, a Throttle Position Sensor clocker, and a PCV Passage Defeat Valve to provide ease of tuning and maximum performance. Keep in mind that each throttle body requires a cable drive mechanism – these are not designed for drive-by-wire operation.

holley1Also hot out of the mold in the Holley booth were oil pans designed for LS retrofit applications. So far, the pans have been proven to fit ’67-’69 F-Body and ’68-’72 Nova/Apollo/Omega, with more fitments to come as the company’s engineering department confirms fitment on other vehicles.

The pan is available in satin aluminum, polished aluminum, and carbon ceramic black, and fits anywhere a GM F-body pan can be used.

These oil pans are designed to provide an OE level of fit and finish – it’ll accept a stock oil filter, has the stock oil cooler port provision, and the OEM flange gasket and sealing design. For more information, check out the video, and Holley’s website.
