Airaid has designed and manufactured industry-leading air-intake systems for just about every application available. The company has provided enthusiasts with high-performance components for close to 20 years.
Airaid’s Trent McGee, explains to us how the company’s intakes assemblies will grow with your build by continuing to support more power.
“The assembly adapts as modifications to the vehicle progress. No permanent modifications are necessary, and this application also works with the factory tune. However, we design our applications to support additional future modifications. This application works extremely well with simple bolt-ons, yet retains the ability to support modifications such as high-lift camshafts, and more. It will support heavier modifications, as the assembly will grow as your enthusiasm for the car grows.”
This includes Airaid’s MXP roto-molded intake box, which is a one-piece designed component. McGee adds, “The most popular cold-air-intake available is our bolt-on carbon-fiber intake system we offer. This is an off-the-shelf piece, meaning it’s available to anyone, for any application. The system is designed for an everyday driver and for the racetrack, which is why we chose a bolt-on application. In both cases, it makes plenty of power.”
We asked McGee about the carbon-fiber manufacturing process. He explains, “In terms of performance, carbon-fiber and roto-molded applications are identical. This application is 100 percent real carbon-fiber, which is hand-laid in-house. It’s not a wrap or a hydro-dipped piece, and it shows in the quality and the performance. The entire assembly is made from off-the-shelf products.”
McGee closes with, “The intake is designed to draw air from the factory cold-air inlet-duct. This assembly reuses the factory GM snout, which is fitted onto the new system. The top of the assembly however, is open to allow for direct air-flow. The intake assembly is designed to use the hood as a lid for the opening, meaning the weather-stripping is used as a sealant, keeping the filter isolated from ambient engine temperatures. The assembly uses a premium oversized air filter. You can choose from our pre-oiled filter in red, or our Synthamax dry filter in red, blue, or black.”
