With so much going on in the world it’s nice to know there are still opportunities to safely get out and enjoy our cars. Starting tomorrow, the gates open to Carlisle Events’ Corvettes at Carlisle, the largest gathering of Corvette faithful in the world. Owners and enthusiasts flock to Carlisle, Pennsylvania every year to take in all the action on and around the showfield and hopefully bring home some goodies from the swap meet, vendors on the midway, or possibly even a new car!
Corvettes at Carlisle has grown into a must-attend event and the Carlisle Events team has taken great steps to ensure that everyone stays safe this year and also has a great time doing it. There is so much to see and do at a Carlisle event that you may find it takes the entire weekend to fit it all into your schedule.
For The Show
One of the main reasons that thousands of Corvette owners point their GPS toward Carlisle in August is to participate in showing their Corvettes in the Fun Field, sponsored Top Flight Automotive (previously known as Corvette America). The vast acreage of cars turns into a colorful array of various years and multiple model variants. You’ll see some of the newest, and rarest Corvettes at Carlisle. If you participate at Corvettes at Carlisle as a club, you can also take the Carlisle Club Challenge. The Top 3 Clubs (based on the number of registered vehicles) will be recognized at the Awards Ceremony with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place banners to proudly display while at Carlisle, your home gatherings, and any other events your group attends.
For The Go!
If sitting still isn’t your thing, you’ll definitely want to check out the Corvette autocross. Again this year, Corvettes at Carlisle and Lingenfelter Performance offer you the chance to win a portion of $1,000 in the “King of the X” competition. Hosted by the Cumberland Valley Corvette Club (CVCC), this is your chance to go fast and win as part of this very unique AutoX Shootout! Competitors will be designated into one of two categories, Performance or Street.
There will also be an all-new exhaust competition added to this year’s festivities. Don’t have a great sounding exhaust? Not to worry! Several exhaust vendors will be on-hand to assist you in letting all that Corvette’s horsepower howl freely. There are even install bays where you can have them installed on your car so you can enjoy them the entire trip home! If your late-model Corvette happens to come down with the sniffles during the event, you can stop by and GM World Certified Technician, Paul Koerner may take a look at what may ail your Corvette. He will also be conducting seminars all weekend as well.
Many folks head to Carlisle looking to purchase Corvette merchandise from the many vendors, parts from the swap meet, or entire cars from the car corral. There are also opportunities to find new projects or even win a brand-new 2020 C8 Corvette! The opportunity helps support the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation and offers participants the chance to win the world’s newest supercar.
You Can Win!
As if that wasn’t enough, Carlisle Events is also offering the chance to win a three-day-weekend in Nevada at the Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Ron Fellows Driving School. The prize includes white knuckle, edge-of-your-seat thrills as part of their Level 1 driving school, a dynamic car control exercise, proper cornering technique instruction, electronic driving mode discovery and best of all, up to 250 miles of track time. In addition, the winner gets three nights’ accommodation AND a $500 Visa gift card to help offset travel costs).
Let’s not forget the coveted Celebrity’s Choice awards and all the special displays that are planned into each Corvettes at Carlisle event. This year, the best of the best Corvettes will be highlighted in the 2020 Chip’s Choice display in Building T. There will also be a live auction on Friday and Saturday, where items will cross the block with the proceeds going to the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation. There will be special Corvettes displayed in various areas around the showfield and anyone owning a 2012 Carlisle Blue Corvette can participate in the event with like-colored Corvette enthusiasts. There will be an NCCC Concours Judged showfield for those with the spit and polish abilities necessary to win.
You may find there is simply too much to take in on one day, so plan on attending multiple days. As an added bonus, Carlisle Events has built an App, which is a free download on iTunes and Google Play. With it, you’ll be able to find vendors, check out the event schedule, interact on social media, buy tickets, get directions, and review the event guide! Then, if you find the weekend has wound down too quickly, Carlisle Events is now offering “Rear View Mirror Sunday,” granting free admission on Sunday (with a previous day’s event ticket), to those who wish to do a little last-minute shopping.
There are so many reasons why enthusiasts are looking for ways to safely, peacefully enjoy their cars, and thankfully, one of the best ways to do so is happening this weekend. If you’re able to steer your way to Carlisle, Pennsylvania to attend this year’s event, you’ll see why this has become the go-to event for the Corvette community. You’ll be glad you did!
