Barrett Jackson Showcases LS & LT Cars From GM Heritage Collection

Everyone that knows anything about collector cars, knows Barrett Jackson is where its at. The most beautiful classic and modern cars, some completely untouched, come across their famous auction blocks. Next up, Barrett Jackson is taking over Palm Beach April 6-8, and they’re bringing over a dozen cars from the GM Heritage Collection with them. So, if you have ever dreamed of owning a little piece of General Motors history… the time is now.

Many of the cars in this legendary collection were owned by Barrett Jackson fan and National Corvette Museum chairman Greg Mauzy. Greg was a full-blown Chevy fan, once collecting over 130 vehicles with 25 being from the GM Heritage Collection – To this day, he is believed to have had the largest privately owned group of Heritage cars.

The part of the collection that is up for grabs features multiple unique cars, from matchbox model lookalike Z/28s, Suburbans, pickup trucks, and even a right-hand-drive Corvette. But, don’t judge these beautiful collector cars solely by their looks– as many are packing some heat under the hood, too.

Take this “Little Red” S10 for example. Featuring a short 108-inch wheelbase and an LS stuffed under the hood, its equipped with a Camaro’s T56 transmission, 1996 Impala SS’ posi-traction rear, 4.10 gears, ZQ8 suspension, lowered 1 inch, and a dual 2-inch exhaust with Dynomax mufflers. The wheels were swapped out for a set off a 2004 Corvette Z06, measuring 9×17 inches front and 10×18 inches rear, wrapped in Goodyears, and accented with upgraded 10-inch discs in the front and 9-inch in the rear.

Three collectors Corvettes are coming across the block– two being LS2 powered and one with an LT1. The yellow Pacific ‘Vette features tons of carbon fiber and stealthy blacked-out exterior bits. Performance upgrades include higher-rate springs, sway bars, suspension, harnesses, a short shifter, and more. The Atlantic is somewhat similar, housing GM Performance Parts CNC-ported cylinder heads, a performance exhaust system, and a short-throw shifter. Of course, both come with manual transmissions. The C4, on the other hand, is pretty stock, but with an LT1 under the autographed hood, its no less awesome.

The underside of the C4's hood was signed by assembly-line workers who originally helped build the car

The Firebird as it sits now

Last but certainly not least: a 1994 Pontiac Firebird. In our opinion, this is one of the coolest cars currently featured in the collection. It was given to the legendary John Lingenfelter straight from the Firebird Brand Team. He then used it to progress the development of one of his famous power packages along with an LT1 Stealth Ram intake manifold. In 1995, he entered it into the Texas Mile shootout and went home with a championship win, reaching 196 mph. Soon afterward, the upgraded vehicle was returned back to its home at Pontiac, where it attended a variety of events until its dismantlement back in 2005.
