Check out this crystal clear, 2023 Hypersonic HTC Z06 render by digital guru Peter Chilelli over at the Mid Engine Corvette Forum. We’ve all been following the details leaking out about the new C8 Z06, but we haven’t seen a render based on the latest spy shots circulating around the web until now. This render is the first we’ve seen that really dials in what may be the look of the new Z06, even though a keen eye will spot that the side strakes on the render don’t mimic the styling tweaks on the camo’d car. For those of us who find the base C8’s styling and OEM wheels disappointing, the aesthetic upgrades of the new Z06 combined with beefed-up, go-fast accouterments, should go a long way towards converting the remaining skeptics of the game-changing C8.
Not only will the Z06 have wide fenders at all four corners, but an attractive new front facia and finally, a set of good-looking factory wheels that add a mean stance and brutal touch to the car. The render closely follows some recent photos from over at the Corvette Action Center and via the magic of Photoshop, wipes away all the camo, and what a beauty it is.
All that plastic surgery will be combined with some serious performance upgrades as well. The motor will be a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated flat-crank plane V8 based on the architecture of the racing C8.R, pumping out around 625 hp. With a redline of around 9,000 rpm, this ain’t your father’s C5 Z06. Expect extra cost carbon fiber wheels, ceramic brakes, the latest version of GM’s MRC 4.0 (Magnetic Ride Control), and sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires to round out the goodies.
Rumor has it that the car will have an MSRP of $80,000. While this would be $10K less dear than the C7 Z06, we all know that with some heavy-handed checking off boxes on the options list, especially if they include carbon fiber, we’re looking at more like $100-120,000. Not bad for some very cool performance upgrades and an engine from a C8.R.
