If you plan to attend just one event this year, you really need to make it the Carlisle GM Nationals. Dedicated solely to General Motors vehicles, the 2016 Carlisle GM Nationals is set to take place between June 17 and June 19, 2016, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
One of the featured areas of the show will be the Aluminum Monsters LSX display. This area revolves around cars with swapped in, or souped up LSX engines. “Whether they are street rods with LSX engines or track monsters with built LSX power plants, all LSX engines are welcome to enter,” said Tyler Staley of Carlisle Events.
There will also be a variety of GM performance cars on display in the Solid Lifter Showroom VIII. “Put on by the team from Super Car Workshop, the Solid Lifter Showroom is home to some of the rarest GM products ever produced,” Tyler said.
If you like your show with a little tire smoke, the show will also feature an autocross competition, which has become largely popular at the GM Nationals. “In fact, we now offer open runs all weekend,” said Tyler. “The annual Autocross Shootout Contest will be open to all, and cash prizes will be awarded to those with the fastest times.”
Coinciding with the open runs, there will also be a burnout competition in front of the main grandstand that will be sponsored by Street Legal Performance (SLP). Competitors will have three minutes to spew as much smoke – and rubber shrapnel from there car.
With the large scale of the event, the GM Nationals will host over 1,000 cars on-site, ranging from first-generation Monte Carlos, fourth- and fifth-generation Camaros, as well as classic Novas, Chevelles, and Impalas.
Finally, you can peruse the gorgeous show cars in the National Parts Depot show field, which is organized by year, make, and model. Home to a slew of classic and modern GM parts and accessories, we’re sure there will be something for your custom or classic build that can be found here.
On Sunday, join in for Carlisle’s Dads and Doughnuts. Since Father’s Day is on Sunday of show weekend, Dad can enjoy a souvenir photograph with the kids, and the youngsters are eligible for a free monster truck ride. Complete details on the show can be found at www.CarlisleEvents.com
The show will be starting early each day at 7 a.m., so be sure to get there promptly. Don’t miss out on this show, as it will have plenty of customs, performance, and historic vehicles, coupled with activities for the kids, industry representatives, and grueling autocross action. We’ll be there, will you?
