If you’re looking to get better fuel economy and performance out of your LS engine, a tune-up is an excellent place to start. After a while, components begin to break down, and things like spark plugs and plug wires will need to be replaced. Another common occurrence on high-milage cars and trucks is weak ignition coils. Signs of a bad ignition coil include engine misfire, rough idle, and lack of power. And while you could replace the tired units with a factory set, why not upgrade to a better coil?
Performance Distributors offers its Sultans Of Spark (SOS) coils for the LS engine. This product produces 28,000 volts under load, which is 7,000 more volts than the stock coils can generate. This means you will have 56,000 more volts on tap when compared to the GM stock ignition system. With this new technology, you will be able to open the plug gaps considerably, which will equate to more power and performance due to a better combustion process in the cylinders. And don’t worry, the SOS coils are compatible with flash devices and programmers.
Sultans Of Spark coils are now available for the following applications.
- Cadillac CTS 2004-05
- Chevrolet Camaro 1998-2002 – (New For 2021)
- Chevrolet Corvette 1997-2004 – (New For 2021)
- Chevrolet Silverado 2500-3500 HD 2001-02
- Chevrolet Suburban 2500 2001-02
Performance Distributors use thermal epoxy leads in their coils for improved heat transfer and vibration resistance. Brass towers are also part of the equation that resist corrosion and have excellent conduction properties. The SOS coils are built with enhanced windings and will mount with OEM provisions. With the coils installed, you will notice quicker engine starting, instant throttle response, and a smoother idle thanks to the additional energy created.
