Late-model pickup trucks have captured the attention and interest of high-performance enthusiasts like we haven’t seen in quite some time. Typically, GM trucks produced before 1998 are the builds of choice, but it seems that there is a new weight class in the old rivalry with Ford. The contenders in this battle are mostly single-cab short-bed four-wheel-drive trucks. To jump into the arena, Killer Performance has debuted their latest creation, a 2024 twin-turbo GMC Sierra.

Justin Keith and his team at Killer Performance have been building high-performance GM vehicles for years. When he’s not traveling the country putting on Street Car Takeover events, Keith is promoting Killer Performance builds with his Stangkilr Productions YouTube channel. Killer Performance has earned a well-deserved reputation for building high-quality LS- and LT-swapped OBS truck packages. So taking on a brand new 2024 GMC Sierra is a tall order — one that Keith and his team have successfully navigated to produce and truck that can terrorize the streets.

According to Keith, this particular 2024 GMC Sierra started life as a four-wheel-drive long bed truck with a 5.3L LT engine. So shortening the truck was the first thing on the to-do list. To create an actual short bed Sierra, Killer Performance had to source a 6-foot bed and a complete single cab short bed truck frame that is only available in Mexico. Once the truck’s wheelbase was where they wanted it, the team could focus on what they do best and begin the twin-turbo engine swap. Starting with a 6.2L Gen-V LT, Late Model Engines (LME) assembled a stout 388 cubic-inch short-block package that is topped off with a pair of LME’s CNC-ported LT4 cylinder heads and a Holley Hi-Ram intake manifold. The Killer Performance crew is responsible for fabricating the complete twin turbo system on the Sierra. Shifting is handled by a 10-speed automatic that is rebuilt in-house at Killer Performance using upgraded components and a Circle D converter.

Supplying the increased fuel demands are components from DSX Tuning and a V-series drop-in fuel pump on the low-pressure side along with LT4 injectors and high-pressure fuel pump. A dual nozzle methanol injection kit from Alky Control is installed in the charge pipe ahead of the throttle body for additional peace of mind.

Anytime you’re dealing with the latest vehicles on the market there are hurdles, and this build is no different. In particular, Keith and his team figured out that the 2024 GM trucks have a throttle body that is specific to this year’s model. Because this truck did not come from the factory with a 6.2L LT engine, a throttle body for a 2024 6.2L truck had to be sourced and installed before it could be tuned. Interestingly, this twin-turbo Sierra retains the factory heater and air conditioning systems, and there are no CES warning lights on the gauge cluster. Additionally, the truck’s four-wheel-drive system still functions as it should.

From a visual perspective, the truck appears to be a pretty mild build with the 22-inch diameter Vossen wheels being the only obvious upgrade. It’s not until the truck is fired up or the hood is opened that the big surprise is revealed. Killer Performance has done an excellent job on this 2024 twin-turbo GMC Sierra. Although the truck hasn’t been on the dyno at the time of this writing, Keith expects it to be in the 900 horsepower range. However unlikely it is ever to be put into production, judging by the many comments from viewers online, a truck like this should be at the top of GM’s list.
