For those of us who can remember the sitcom Married With Children it is common knowledge that Peggy Bundy, played by Sons of Anarchy‘s Katey Sagal, had a serious obsession with Oprah. Thanks to some creative Google-Fu skills, we were able to find Peggy Bundy’s dream car known as the “Oprah Vette.” One Corvette owner shared Mrs. Bundy’s obsession with the TV talk show host and media mogul so much that they deemed it necessary to broadcast their love for Oprah Winfrey with a huge mural on the hood.
Ordinarily, this type of modification could fall under the Wrecked Vette Wednesday category, but there’s a certain level of artistic merit here. Unlike, say, the Dragon Vette, this owner took time to find a qualified artist (economic times are hard, and theme parks and carnivals are laying off a lot of caricature artists, or so we’ve heard) to airbrush Oprah’s head on the hood.
After diligent research, we discovered that we have Karrel Buck to thank for taking the photos; but the tip belongs to Artcar for bringing Oprah Vette out of the clutter on Flickr. Though there are only two images of the Oprah Vette available, it is fair to say that owner is passionate about both Oprah and airbrushed artwork. In addition to the hood, beneath are copious amounts of bling and a set of valve covers adorned with a dew-covered black rose. Perhaps the rose represents Oprah’s struggle with her new network, or the owner was a former goth kid. Regardless of the meaning or lack thereof, murals are like tattoos for your car and provide the rest of the world a peek into what you are into enough to make permanent.
