For nearly 50 years Tremec has been building transmissions and parts for everything from high performance cars, to big rig semi trucks. Tremec is the largest independent manufacturer of transmissions in North America, and supplies transmissions to the big three, Ford, GM , and Chrysler, at the OEM level.
Tremec uses advanced engineering and design methods to design transmissions that can meet their demands of their customers. They’re able able to provide advanced 3D modeling for their clients. They are also able to provide packaging analysis ensuring that a particular transmission fits a vehicle design. FEA analysis, kinematics analysis, gear life prediction, bearing life and shaft deflection analysis, gear tooth error analysis and optimization, and rapid prototyping services.
As is demonstrated in the video Tremec has advanced testing systems including several transmission dynamometers, chassis dynamometers, and even a cold testing cell capable of running transmission simulations at temperatures of -32 degrees Fahrenheit. They also have a service center capable of accommodating multiple vehicle types from the typical performance oriented cars, to off-road vehicles, and even large class-eight semis.
Tremec is able to build their transmissions and gear sets using bar stock from their own steel yards, helping them control the quality of their products from start to finish. The raw steel enters Tremec at one end of their manufacturing facility where it is taken through the forging process, and eventually exits as a finished product on the assembly line.
Tremec makes extensive use of robotics throughout the assembly and build process further ensuring a quality product and production efficienty. They also employ extensive quality control processes to ensure every product is high quality when it leaves the assembly line. These reasons, and this video is why Tremec has remained a leader in the transmission industry for nearly 50 years.
