When GM announced that the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro would come with a 305 horsepower V6 engine, it raised the bar for all the other muscle car makers. No longer would base model muscle cars be confined to anemic and uninspired performance. Instead, GM gave its new Camaro the LFX V6 engine, which has already found a following among Bowtie enthusiasts. IPF Tuning has just put out a video for their new supercharger kit for the Camaro LFX V6 engine. Watching this red Camaro hoon about,we had to remind ourselves that this is “only” a V6 Camaro…yes, it’s that good.

Rated at 312 horsepower from the factory (GM found a few stragglers in 2011, bumping up its numbers), most dyno videos of stock V6 2010+ Camaros come in around 250 wheel horsepower and 225 ft-lbs of torque. Respectable, but hardly intimidating. But IPF’s supercharger kit boosts power at the wheels to 380, and torque to 300 ft-lbs, which works out to 435/360 at the crank. This kit will also work on 2008-2011 Cadillac CTS sedans equipped with the LFX V6. With that much horsepower on tap in a V6 package, it is easy to sneak the performance of a V8 Camaro under the radar of insurance companies. Not that we’re condoning that mind you, it’s just that considering the price of a base V8 Camaro, you could have a V6 Camaro with lower insurance premiums and V8 performance. Might be worth considering, don’t you think?
