Video: Our Favorite Cutlass Pulls Off 158 MPH In The Half-Mile Run

awdcutlass1Our favorite Oldsmobile Cutlass is a bit different, a little special, and full-tilt badass. It’s the creation of Brian King and not only does this 1982 Cutlass sport an LS2 swap from a wrecked ’07 Trailblazer, but the unique thing about this ordinary looking Cutlass is that the swap included the transfercase and transmission from the Trailblazer – yes, it’s All Wheel Drive (AWD). We featured the car a couple of years ago and it was an instant hit everywhere it’s been seen, and damn near broke the internet with shares and video views.

But King didn’t stop at just building the car, he built it even further than just the 6.6 liter LS2 – it’s gets some boost via a D1SC ProCharger centrifugal supercharger. He truly enjoys the following that his killer Cutlass is generating and for the past couple of years he has not disappointed in the entertainment department.

To prove that this car is all business and not just a showpiece, King put the car on the track to show what it can do. It pulled a mid-ten second run in the 1320, and looks to be pulling hard the entire trip through the lights.

awdcutlass7This year, King did something that generated even more excitement for the car by performing an AWD burnout. But this wasn’t just any AWD burnout, he took his Cutlass hostage and chained it down do his garage and let it rip. As hard as the car pulled, the chain held the car back and the tires spun until smoke filled the camera – and the car disappeared in the smoke. Then he provided three alternate views of this hostage burnout for even more entertainment.

So what does one do next to keep the momentum going? If you’re Brian King, you put the car up to a half-mile challenge and launch it. After the launch, he put the skinny pedal to the floor and he didn’t let up until he hit the half-mile mark and tripped the lights at over 158 mph. Watch the video above, and for more entertainment on this killer Cutlass, check out King’s YouTube channel and get your fix on AWD madness.
