Big power and a short wheelbase is the recipe for some fun at the track, and that’s exactly what M.A.D. Performance put together with their insane Opel Kadett. This German family car has gone through a few changes to make it look like a crazy Hot Wheels car and it has the boosted power to back it up. In this footage from 1320Video, it’s easy to see why the driver Dennis earned the nickname “Drift King” as the Opel gets sideways multiple times going down the track.

From the factory, a stock Opel Kadett came with an anemic four-cylinder engine inside its sub-100-inch wheelbase … hardly the makings of a racecar. To address this lack of power, the team at M.A.D. Performance removed the stock engine and crammed in a 7.3-liter LSX-based engine into the engine bay that’s backed by a TH400 transmission.

To take the car to the next, level a pair of 76 mm Precision turbos were added to the potent LSX engine to help it make over 1,400 horsepower at just 13 pounds of boost. With so much power available, it’s no wonder the Kadett got a giant pair of slicks added along with a set of wheelie bars to help keep it from flipping over on each pass.

At the LandRacing No Prep event in Stockholm, Sweden, Dennis and the M.A.D. Performance crew brought the Opel out to try and win the Big Tire class crown. On the car’s first pass it makes a wild move to the right, sending a group of photographers running for cover, but Dennis was able to keep the car on the racing surface.
