2020 C8 Corvette Z51 Wrecked Within Hours Of Delivery

Imagine the dealership just called and said, “Mr. Smith, your new 2020 C8 Corvette is in and ready for pickup.” You have been waiting for months for the arrival of the Sebring Orange C8 with the optional Z51 performance package. Naturally, you would expect to pick up the car with the intent of enjoying it for years.

Unfortunately for June Bug, a Florida resident, and new C8 owner, this was not the case. Within just 26 hours, the 2020 Corvette was totaled as it T-boned a Hyundai Accent that pulled out in front of the new sports car, and the collision was unavoidable. As if this event wasn’t bad enough, according to Motor1.com, the driver of the Accent was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and was not insured.

Fortunately, the wreck didn’t result in any fatalities, but all parties involved, including the passenger in the C8, were injured. The Corvette owner received some minor cuts and bruises, which resulted in five stitches. The passenger of the C8 suffered broken fingers, as well. The driver of the Hyundai wasn’t as fortunate and was hospitalized, but we don’t have information on their condition. However, it was reported that as of Sunday, April 5, they were still in the hospital.

From the pictures, the damage to the C8 looks pretty extensive. It’s evident that the front end was smashed heavily along with the hood/trunk, and fenders. Another painful picture is one of the dash showing a check engine light and the odometer displaying only 221 miles.

A lot can happen in just 26 hours, and life has a way of reminding us of this. Just remember that drinking and driving are not ok, cars can be replaced, but human lives cannot. We hope that June gets a new C8 soon and gets to enjoy it for a lifetime on his next go around.
