At this year’s SEMA 360 virtual show, we got wind of a new lowering kit that had not finished testing from Hyperco, which is why this SEMA product report is so late to hit the press.
Hyperco’s test team and Paragon Performance just wrapped up putting the new kit through its paces, and are ready to announce the first optimized lowering spring kit for the 2020 Corvette C8 will be available early next year.
“This one was hard to keep quiet about but we are stoked with how it turned out,” said Justin Cockerham, Hyperco’s Motorsports & Performance Aftermarket Manager. “After 1,000 road miles and a brutal track beat down and we came up with the perfect solution for the new Corvette C8 with our partners at Paragon Performance.”
According to Justin, the lowering spring kit offers .5 inches of lowering front and rear. Combine that with the factory adjust-ability of .75 inches lowering and you can achieve a total lowering of 1.25 inches on the Z51cars.
The spring is also 30-percent stiffer than the factory springs giving increased handling without sacrificing low-speed ride comfort. Cars that have front lift can use these springs and Paragons lowering collars up front to achieve the same drop.
“These have been specifically engineered to work with the factory shocks,” Justin added. “Using 3D scanning technology the entire suspension was scanned, measured, and studied. This resulted in a spring that works with the factory shocks to maintain correct geometries while lowering the vehicle and increasing handling.”
