Community College Welcomes Donated Corvette Z06

Automotive technology students at Brookdale Community College in New Jersey just hit the jackpot. General Motors recently handed over the keys to a brand-new 2024 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible, giving students a rare chance to get up close and personal with the donated Corvette to inspect some serious high-performance engineering.

Donated Corvette

GM has a history of supporting Brookdale’s automotive program with donated vehicles and parts, but this Z06 Convertible is a true showstopper. Valued around $153,000 and with only 409 miles on the clock, the car is practically new.

This isn’t just any Corvette; the Z06 packs GM’s 5.5-liter LT6 V8 – a naturally aspirated animal with dual overhead cams and a dry-sump oiling system that revs to a thrilling 8,600 rpm and cranks out 670 horsepower. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, carbon fiber aero pieces, adaptive suspension, and big Brembo brakes complete the high-tech package.

The donated Corvette Z06 will serve as an advanced learning tool. Ivan Anderson, one of Brookdale’s automotive technology professors, said this Z06 is a “game-changer for our students,” giving them a “unique opportunity to work on one of the most advanced vehicles on the road today.”

Students in the college’s General Motors (GM) Automotive Service Educational Program (ASEP) will use the Corvette to study modern performance diagnostics, engine tuning techniques, and complex driver-assistance systems, preparing them for careers at GM dealerships and certified repair shops.

Dr. James Crowder, Brookdale’s STEM Institute Dean, also commented on the donation’s significance, stating, “This Corvette is more than just a car – it’s an opportunity for our students to work with the latest and greatest in automotive engineering.”

Beyond its use in the workshop, the college plans to wrap the Z06 in school branding. They will then display it at local high schools, career fairs, and auto events, hoping to inspire a new generation to pursue automotive careers. Lucky students. Imagine going to school and getting your hands on an almost brand-new Corvette Z06. An experience that surely won’t be forgotten, especially as a student.

Considered to be more than just a stunning car, this donated Corvette Z06 will be a serious, hands-on learning tool for Brookdale’s students. It represents a huge investment by GM in helping them get real-world skills in modern automotive technology that can fuel their passion and expertise in the long run.
