performance2Believe it or not, it’s been close to five years since the first fifth-generation Camaros rolled off of the Oshawa assembly lines. In those five years we’ve gotten a ton of special editions, unique colors, and high-performance models like the ZL1 and Z/28. GM still plans on wringing a lot of life out of the Camaro before it gets totally replaced, and Chevy Performance is stepping in with some upgrades of its own.

performance3In fact, if you’re willing to lay out some extra money, you can get some pretty beefy improvements for either your Camaro V6 or SS, including some choice bits from the top-of-the-line ZL1.

We’ve already talked at length about the 1LE package, which for just under $1,100 turns your Camaro into a much better handling machine. Track enthusiasts will be happy to hear that the Camaro ZL1’s huge carbon disc brake package will also be available for purchase, allowing for longer outings at the track with worrying about brake fade.

You can also opt for the ZL1’s rearend assembly, which is a heckuva lot stronger than the stock unit and could be good if you intend on beating on your Camaro at the drag strip. Speaking of the drag strip, just about every goody on the drag-ready COPO Camaro, from oil pans to intakes and everything in between, can also be bought from Chevy Performance now. This is only the tip of the iceberg too; there are parts for improving every aspect of this pushrod muscle car.

Also worth noting is that per GM, many of the parts preserve the vehicle warranty when installed by a Chevrolet dealer – an important advantage for someone with a new Camaro still covered under the factory plan. All together, this should keep Camaro fans happy and busy for a few more years while GM puts the finishing touches on the next-gen model.
