The Pirelli World Challenge series began in late March, taking over the streets of St. Petersburg with an army of race cars representing many different marques and teams. This included Andy Lee, who drives the BestIT/Bondurant Racing Chevy Camaro in the GTS class. When the team isn’t out competing for a spot on the podium, they’re dialing in the Camaro on the dyno.12_wc_R2Lee

andy-lee-camaroEver want to see a road racing car spin the rollers? Us too, and this video from AIRRAID’s Facebook page gives us a sneak peek at what Andy Lee’s Camaro looks like when its being tuned for perfection.

If you’re looking for actual horsepower numbers, well, we don’t have those; teams like to give a general idea of power, but keep the actual numbers (which fluctuate with temperatures and conditions anyways) under wraps. But it is still a chance to see a genuine race car getting tuned to make as much power as the rules will allow, a delicate dance indeed.

Andy Lee’s team can use the tuning time, as mechanical failure knocked him out of contention during the second race of the weekend in St. Petersburg, forcing a 21st place finish. That all but negated second place finish the day before. That said, Lee did come in second overall in the driver’s championship in the GTS class for the 2012 season. Also, there are plenty of more races to go, and with the Camaro dialed in and Andy Lee at the wheel, this could be the season they take home the championship.
