The Gilmore family got the surprise of their life when it was announced that they were the winners of the 2011 Hulk Hogan Edition Camaro SS raffled off at a fundraiser benefiting Unity in the Community. The car, given away by radio personality “Bubba the Love Sponge” and Hogan himself, was presented and raffled off at the event at Stingray Chevrolet in Plant City, Florida on March 25. We announced this event and Hulk Hogan’s involvement with the fundraiser for the second year in a row on LSXMAG on March 1.
Unity for the Community is an organization that collects and distributes money and goods to charitable and service organizations in the community. Steve Hurley, manager/owner of Stingray Chevrolet is president of the organization. The Camaro raffle raised $100,000 for Unity this year, beating last year’s fundraiser by $30,000. Hurley, along with “Bubba,” purchased the Camaro SS and donated it to the cause. Hogan donated his time, persona and signature for the dashboard of the car.
After the initial shock of their win set in, Doug and Marie Gilmore had something very important to work out- who was going to be driving their new Camaro. Doug, who won the car after buying four $5 tickets, said that he felt that the driver’s seat was made for him. According to him, there is plenty of room in the Camaro for Marie in the passenger seat. Marie had a different opinion, stating that she was going to force her husband to let her drive, even if it meant having to go to driving school. One thing is certain, however. The green and black Hulk Edition SS is sure to turn heads no matter which Gilmore is driving.
