Everyone that knows GM performance… knows Pace Performance. Pace Performance is the go-to place for everything GM– from genuine factory parts to aftermarket performance parts from some of the largest and most notable manufacturers in the industry. We met up with Don Blackshear from Pace Performance at this year’s PRI show to get the scoop on their new popular CT525 program.
Pace Performance took the LS-based GM CT525 motor and adapted it to be fitted into a sprint car. Don explains, “GM has done an outstanding job with the development of it but then, of course, we at Pace Performance have adapted it into the sprint car market, in which it is the one and only.” Mostly everything is made in-house and includes Jones Performance pulleys and alternators, as well as a 750 Holley HP series alcohol carburetor– tuned for each specific engine. The package has the capability to produce 570 horsepower, 540 ft-lbs of torque, and 7200 rpms.
“The whole concept and package was developed to be a plug and play replacement in a conventional sprint car,” said Don. “We developed [it] for Knoxville Raceway and we’ve ran 3,500 laps with this exact engine package with a zero failure rate. Everything is still working excellent and doing its job.” He claims the kit is extremely user-friendly and requires simple maintenance, even being able to run 80-100 races before any maintenance is needed.
The complete sealed engine package comes in a box with headers and everything you need to install it into a vehicle. It comes at a reasonable price, too– $15,950.
