We recognized this S2000 when we spotted it at MST Wheels’ SEMA exhibit this year. We walked a little closer and, yup, you guessed it– it had an LS chillin’ under the hood.
Charles, the owner, gave us the list of its goodies. This beast, dubbed the “LS2K” holds Flyin’ Miata headers, a T56 transmission, an Import Muscle engine mount kit, accessory drive from Texas Speed, COMP Cams/TSP torquer V3 cam, a 92mm Billet aluminum throttle body, a six puck sprung hub clutch kit with a heavy duty pressure plate and pilot bearing, a GM Performance FPR Fuel Filter, an LSX Fuel system with aircraft lines and fittings, a custom exhaust system, an AEM Air to Fuel Ratio Wideband, an HP Tuners-tuned factory PCM, a Koyo radiator, a Cusco differential, Spoon underbody braces, and steering rack relocation kit. Today, it pushes over 560 horsepower. Dang.
Before the LS2 swap, the S2000 was turbocharged, but Charles eventually ended up opting for the amazing naturally aspirated power of a ‘vette. “I love that it has the power of the Corvette and the handling of the S2000,” said Charles. “It’s the best of both worlds.”
With all that power, a big brake kit was needed– specifically, Brembos. The JGTC-inspired custom wide body is accented with a eye-catching Battle Aero chassis mounted wing, a Forbidden-USA carbon fiber hardtop, APR front splitter, APR carbon fiber mirrors, Spec-D headlights, AP2 Rear LED taillights, and MST wheels (duh) lowered on JDM-sport coilovers.
The wheels measure 18×9.5+20 in the front, a whopping 18×11+15 in the rear, and are wrapped in 245/35 and 295/35 Continentals.
Charles chose to upgrade to 2006 AP2 interior as well, and threw on a NRG steering wheel, a Cusco roll cage, and some bucket seats with harnesses.
From the widebody to the swap– overall, this build is very nicely done.
