Classic Performance Products is primarily known as a brakes, steering and suspension company focusing on classic American cars. But when they saw that LS-swaps were frequently interfering with some of their steering components, they stepped in to provide kits that will work harmoniously in your classic ride.
Needless to say, the LS engine has become a ubiquitous staple for anyone looking to modernize their classic ride and that has created a whole new aftermarket to support these newer mills. Steering components are often the main concern when dropping an LS between the fenders of your favorite muscle car. That’s because the way the LS sits in the car frequently causes interference issues with steering components such as the steering gear box, center links, or even tie rod ends on occasion.
Classic Performance Products saw that many of their customers were running into this issue and are now producing LS swap kits that allow Gen III and IV engines to work harmoniously with almost any classic.
The kits come with your choice of shorty, long-tube, or Tri-Y style headers. The kits are also available with cast exhaust manifolds that reduce the price of the overall kit and come in your choice of raw, ceramic coated, or black.
These kits will fit most GM car applications starting in 1955 and span all the way up to 1987, as well as truck applications starting in 1963 and again ending in 1987. All engine mounts are a Fit Right mount that are adjustable and allow you to position the engine front to back with over 3 inches of range. The transmission crossmember has the same amount of adjustability built in to allow you to shift the entire drivetrain to a position that is the most beneficial.
