If you’re a fan of the modern LS movement, then you have more than likely heard of Street Legal Performance. SLP was on the front lines of late model performance right as the LS1 was hitting the streets starting in ’97 with the Corvette and ’98 in the Camaro. In fact, the General trusted SLP so much that it sent all ’97-’02 Camaros to the New Jersey-based company to produce all SS versions of our beloved fourth-gen.
And here is another label that you’ve more than likely heard of—Loud Mouth. These famous, or some would say infamous, exhausts have been emitting some of the most aggressive exhaust notes ever to be heard through a full exhaust system for decades. Whether you were a fan or opted for something a little more tame, you can certainly appreciate what the system meant for LS cars everywhere, and now you can get it for your LT powered car as well.
“While the system for the sixth-gen might not be as aggressive as the one that we offered for the fourth-gen, it can still get pretty aggressive,” said Kevin Woodruff of SLP. “No one is going to hear this exhaust and think that it is overly tame for sure.”
Woodruff also tells us that SLP will be offering superchargers for not just the sixth-gen Camaro but for the 5.3 and 6.2 liter offerings in the Silverado and Tahoe. The units will be somewhat familiar to fans as they utilize the popular TVS 2300 rotor pack and are capable of delivering a wallop no matter what they sit astride.
But what does the future hold for SLP? Well, according to Woodruff it means more parts for all of our favorite platforms, including the C7 Corvette.
“We are contemplating possibly doing headers again,” Woodruff said. “We’ve been known for our high quality headers for years and we think [they] would be popular items for these cars.”
Needless to say we are excited to see and hear about SLP’s resurgence and will be anxiously awaiting even more great parts from them hitting the market in the future.
