SEMA is sensory overload, plain and simple. Between the endless rows of products and the high-decibel crowds, it takes something truly unhinged to make your head turn. That’s exactly what happened when we turned the corner at the HornBlasters display and saw the SS Monte Mino. It’s a mashup that sounds crazy on paper but looks like pure genius in the metal: a 1979 El Camino, a G-body Monte Carlo SS, and a sixth-generation Corvette all fused into one.

A C6 Corvette Foundation
The project is the brainchild of builder Matt McEntegart, who clearly decided that stock geometry wasn’t going to cut it. He wisely chose a C6 Corvette as the donor for the chassis, drivetrain, and electronics. This wasn’t a plug-and-play swap, though. To fit the G-body proportions, Matt had to extend the Corvette’s torque tube and swing arms by a full foot. He also shifted the rear K-member back and relocated the shocks to accommodate a custom air-ride system, giving the car its ground-scraping stance.

Styling The SS Monte Mino
Bodywork is where the art really happens. Matt kept the graceful roofline of the ’79 El Camino but grafted on Monte Carlo SS doors and fenders. The frontend is a complete departure, featuring a custom shark nose that Matt designed himself because he hated the original long overhangs. He fabricated the entire front clip—fenders, spoiler, and all–out of forged carbon fiber. The result is a car with an eight-foot-wide track that looks like an IMSA racer from an alternate timeline.

Carbon Fiber And Custom Paint
The rear is just as wild. A custom forged carbon tailgate sits between Monte Carlo taillights and a carbon diffuser, topped by a massive wing. The quarter panels feature yacht vents (also carbon) and were stretched using sections from a second set of doors to clear the massive 24-by-14-inch Amani Forged wheels. Originally slated for matte black, Matt pivoted to a traditional Monte Carlo Maroon, but with a deep candy finish that lets the forged carbon weave pop in the light.

Old-School Power And New-School Comfort
Under the custom carbon cowl hood of this SS Monte Mino sits a Cherry Red LS3, refreshingly devoid of turbos. Instead, it breathes through seven-inch stacks on a Redux Racing ITB intake. Inside, the cabin mixes eras perfectly, using a Corvette-based dash wrapped in leather to mimic the G-body layout. Supra seats covered in Moore & Giles leather and plaid inserts complete the look.
