We always stop by the VP Racing booth at SEMA, and this year was no different. With high-octane pump gas getting harder to find, VP Racing fuel additives are a staple for enthusiasts. We caught up with Kevin from VP Racing to get the rundown on their popular Octanium line and see what was new for 2025.

The Proven Octanium Lineup

Kevin, a bracket racer himself, broke down the lineup for us. The formulas, which are already proven, haven’t changed. They have their well-known Octanium Unleaded, which is the go-to for street cars as it’s safe for catalytic converters and O2 sensors. It can boost octane by up to seven numbers, depending on what you start with. For the more serious off-road and dedicated race builds, they still offer the classic leaded Octanium, which bumps octane even higher, up to eight numbers. Kevin mentioned he even uses it in his own car for Friday night test-and-tune runs.

The Real Problem: Capless Fuel Fillers

When we asked what was new, Kevin was refreshingly honest. He explained that VP Racing realized how difficult it was for customers to pour additives into modern cars. The real problem isn’t the fuel; it’s the tricky, spring-loaded, and differently-sized fill spouts on new vehicles. Getting a traditional bottle of additive into a modern capless filler without making a mess is a massive hassle, and VP decided to fix it.

New VP Racing fuel additives Can Design

The big update is all about the packaging. VP Racing is showcasing a new, compliant funnel spout built right into the neck of the can. This new spout is intelligently designed to automatically open those modern capless fillers, allowing the additive to pour in smoothly. It’s a simple, user-friendly change that makes a massive difference for owners of newer performance cars.

A Practical Update Across the Board

This new can and funnel design was one of the practical highlights for VP Racing at SEMA 2025. They are in the process of applying this new design to their entire line of fuel additives. This includes everything from their fuel stabilizers to their diesel cetane improvers. It’s a smart, thoughtful update that shows they’re paying close attention to the real-world hassles that modern car owners face. It makes grabbing a bottle of VP Racing fuel additives a frustration-free process.
