Recently at a Las Vegas, Barrett-Jackson auction, the very first 2015 Corvette Stingray, VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) 001, was recently sold for a whopping $400,000. The auction was held inside Mandalay Bay Casino, and Chevy’s sports car crossed the block on the evening of September 26, 2014.

Fox Sports provided the coverage showing the Corvette, finished in Arctic White with the black wheel option, and the 3LT package with Napa leather and suede seat inserts. This car is the first to house the new 8-speed automatic transmission and is equipped with Chevrolet’s new PDR (Performance Data Recorder). Both of these items have tested remarkably well, and we all cannot wait to experience them for ourselves.

The final hammer announced the closing and named Dave Ressler, Chevrolet dealer and avid Corvette collector, as the winner. He has several other early production Corvettes within his collection, where this Stingray should feel right at home.

As the auction was gaining momentum, the TV commentators mentioned that along with the new car comes a Level 3, 2-day course at the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School. Highly recommend, this driving instruction should allow the Stingray’s new owner to really get the most out of their new car.

The proceeds from the purchase will benefit CARE House of Oakland County, and Barrett-Jackson announced they will wave all of their auction fees so that CARE may receive 100% of the auction price. We all love cars for a number of reasons, but when you can do something like this and benefit others, it just makes it all that much better.
