This custom 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster completely redefines modern vehicle fabrication. Taking a classic concept and stripping it down to the bare mechanical essentials creates an incredibly raw driving experience. A Modern Z06 Foundation
Underneath the vintage styling beats the heart of a dedicated track machine. Stripped Down Street Rods started this ambitious project using a 2009 Z06 donor vehicle showing less than 33,000 miles. They utilized the factory torque tube, rear differential, and robust four-wheel disc brakes equipped with ABS.
Power comes from a refreshed 7.0-liter LS7 V8 that’s pushing 500 horsepower. A refreshed six-speed manual transmission with a short-throw shifter provides complete gear control. The builders also kept the proven factory cooling and fuel systems.
A Custom Chevrolet Corvette Roadster
The builders ditched the traditional fiberglass body completely. They fabricated a custom chassis featuring exoskeleton tubing finished in a brilliant Illusion Orange powder coat. Black powder-coated panels fill the gaps, while custom front headlights and classic C2 taillights help perfectly define the Roadster’s shape.
The entire project was designed to resemble a C2 Corvette while delivering an unfiltered connection to the road. The vehicle sits aggressively on Corvette Centennial Cup gloss black 19-inch wheels wrapped in sticky Nitto tires.
A Stripped-Down Racing Cockpit
The interior matches the extreme exterior aesthetic flawlessly. Drivers strap into tan vinyl racing buckets using heavy-duty four-point harnesses. The builders retained the original OEM Corvette gauge cluster and display to accurately monitor vital mechanical systems.
A MOMO steering wheel and functional, switch-operated traction control keep the driver engaged. Marine-grade carpet and a matching headliner complete the unique open cabin.
