America’s Supercar Killer – The C8 Z06 Corvette

The Chevrolet Corvette has long been referred to as America’s Sports Car. For over six decades, it has led the charge for US automakers to compete with the best that Europe has to offer. Now that the Corvette sports a mid-engine design and the powerful Z06 option is available, how well does the C8 stack up against the Bulls and Stallions from across the pond? Based on this recent video released by Emilia Hartford, the C8 Z06 Corvette can now be aptly called America’s Supercar Killer.

Tale Of The Tape

This particular three-car shootout is an interesting one. Obviously, there is the C8 Z06 (with the Z07 option package) that we all know is mid-engine rear-wheel drive. It comes in at a weight of 3700 pounds with 670 horsepower. The Corvette is both the heaviest and most powerful car in the contest.

The 2023 mid-engine design of the C8 Z06 Corvette fits right in with the Italian supercars.

Second in the lineup is the Ferrari 458.  It rolls into this gunfight with the smallest engine, a 4.5-liter V8 making 570 horsepower. Although the Ferrari has the least horsepower of the three cars, it is also the lightest at 3200 pounds. Last but definitely not least is the car in this shootout that I think many people would choose to win. The Lamborghini Huracan Evo is everything one could want in a supercar. Its mighty V10 engine makes 600 horsepower, and its all-wheel-drive system is perfect for this test of speed and acceleration.

Punching Above Its Weight

I don’t think anyone reading this or watching the video expects the 458 to have much for the Z06 or the Huracan. The Italian Stallion is more commonly known for its elegance, beauty, and refinement than for raw power and performance. On the other hand, the Huracan is a beast, and the car has become one of the favorites in recent years among tuners and builders for getting four-digit horsepower to hook with the Lamborghini’s all-wheel-drive. Another thing weighing in the Huracan’s favor is the fact that it is 400 pounds lighter than the Z06 while making only 70 horsepower less. The real test for the Z06 is definitely the Lamborghini.

The results of the races are pretty eye-opening, to say the least. I expected the Z06 and Huracan to be a very close race, predicting the Lamborghini to get an early advantage off the start. But that wasn’t the case, with the Z06’s launch control allowing it to leave hard and immediately get out on the Huracan. From there, it appears that the Lamborghini didn’t have much for the Z06 after all. Emilia proceeded to walk away from the Raging Bull with the Z06, putting a sizable gap on the Huracan at the finish line.

No explanation necessary. The C8 Z06 repeatedly gapped the Lamborghini in this straight-line contest.

I can’t wait to see what other exotics will fall to America’s supercar killer once the C8 Z06 finds its way into the hands of the public. I’m sure there will be no shortage of kills caught on video in the near future.
