On the surface, German automakers appear to have little in common with their peers here in America. Whereas American cars are big, loud, and place more of an emphasis on engines than suspensions, ze Germans are decidedly more refined. Yet at the core of car brands like Audi, Mercedes, and BMW, is a healthy respect for performance. That is something the Americans have been doing right for decades.
So it is no surprise to us that Audiovox picked a Camaro to showcase its latest audio offering from its Magnat brand in Germany. Carscoop reports that in addition to a number of upgrades providing vastly superior sound, the “Audio-Camaro” as it is called got a few engine modifications to help the big V8 roar as well.
The first thing you notice about this Camaro is the sleek two-tone paintjob with blue accents. it’s a good look for the Camaro, which is only available with a V8 over in Germany. (GM has also wisely chosen not to use the SS moniker, which has some rather negative connotations in Germany.) The Camaro also got an ECU upgrade and air induction system that boosts horsepower and torque to 445 and 440 respectively.
But the real draw of this Camaro is the kickin’ audio system and custom interior. A powerful 4,400 watt Magnat system cranks out crazy amounts of bass thanks to some huge subwoofers and an array of upgraded speakers. This is one V8 Camaro that can drown out the sound of its own engine with some crazy beats. Ultimately, we’re glad to see that ze Germans still respect the big American V8 enough to do a well-planned ride like this one.
