For longtime Corvette fans, Noland Adams is a well known figure, and Corvette Action Center is reporting he has passed away. He was 84 years old.
Before the internet and forums, Noland was the definitive source of Corvette facts and tech tidbits. He was the author of many books on Corvette restoration and a librarian of old Chevrolet documents regarding it’s plastic two-seater.
Noland Adams works include a series of technical books – “The Complete Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide,” (Volume I, 1953 to 1962; Volume II, 1963-1967 model years), “Corvette, American Legend,” covering the original dream car prototype and 1953 production, and the follow up series, “1954 and 1955 Production,” “1956 Production,” “1957 Racing and Production details,” and “1958 to 1960 Variations.”
Adams hosted a series of restoration workshops and videos, written hundreds of articles for Corvette related magazines, and has given numerous presentations on Corvette restoration all over the United States, plus seminars in Canada, Sweden and England. A consultant to the model car industry, Adams was the technical advisor on Monogram’s 1953 Corvette model car kit and Franklin Mint’s 1953 Corvette model.
Aside from writing books, he was a National Corvette Museum’s Corvette Hall of Fame Inductee, a founding President of the Solid Axle Corvette Club and aggregated an amazing database of information regarding the Corvette.
The Corvette hobby is under constant siege from father time but with the efforts of guys like Mr. Adams, anectodes, data and ephemera that would have been lost forever and now are logged and sorted and ready to be studied by a new generation of Corvette fans.
Ironically, Noland passed on his birthday. From all of us at Corvette Online and Power Automedia, we send our condolences to Noland’s family and loved ones.
