Barn Find: 195X Found In a Boat House, But What Year Is It?

C1-Corvette-Project-600x375This barn find is a little bit different than the gems we usually find on eBay or BarnFinds for a couple of reasons. To begin with, this Corvette was found in a boat house, not a barn. A minor detail for certain, but we figured we should make the statement before somebody else does.

Secondly, we don’t know what year it is. Anybody who is reasonably educated on C1 Corvettes will tell you that the body style shown here was available between 1953 and 1955, so we know it is one of the three. Additionally, all of the 1953 Corvettes were only constructed with Polo White paint, and red interiors. While that alone doesn’t mean this is a ’53, it does leave the possibility open.

According to the listing, the car is missing the original Blue Point six-cylinder engine as well as the two-speed gearbox which isn’t going to help its current value. The car certainly needs a lot of TLC but it can still be saved. Regardless of the year, this would be a pretty valuable car if returned to its original state, and should it actually be a 1953 Corvette, it could be worth a large sum if properly restored.

While the add has since been removed, BarnFinds noted that the car was mistakingly listed on eBay as a 1959 which only adds to the confusion. You may also notice that there is a fiberglass top s                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      itting on the car which was aftermarket piece made by company called Plasticon. Aftermarket products are nothing new to the Corvette world!
