Before you get too excited and begin clicking through to find your dream project, we feel the need to let you know that this diamond in the not-so-rough has already been sold thanks to the Beverly Hills Car Club. This 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible was listed for $46,500, and while the dealership was not able to tell us what it sold for, we can’t imagine the new owner paid much under asking price.
1966 marks the second to last production year of the C2 Corvettes, having only been manufactured for five years. While it may not be the most popular paint color, this is one fine example of an original Sting Ray. The car is listed as numbers matching with a chassis number of 194676S104198, and an engine number of 6104198, and includes two tops: one fold-away rag top, and one hard top. This C2 was also constructed with the 427-ci V8 which produces 390 hp, four-speed manual gearbox and teak steering wheel.
Supposedly the car has remained untouched since 1976, during which time it was stored in a rather sound looking, multi-bay garage. After pulling the car out into the sunlight and fresh air, it must have been quite an experience opening a car which hadn’t been touched for nearly 40 years.
This car popped up on BarnFinds, and it is unclear as to how it made it to BHCC to be sold. Many times an inheritance and / or real estate transaction leads to such circumstances. Ultimately, whether or not this particular car is your cup of tea, it is nice to know there are still barn finds surfacing, allowing a lot of car lovers to keep on dreaming.
