The great thing about off-roading is that it appeals to all walks of life. Nowhere is this more evident than in the recent Ringbrothers Chevy K5 Blazer build, made custom just for rapper Nayvadius Wilburn, better known as Future.
The 1971 Blazer they built is definitely a showstopper. The rugged and respected look of the first-gen Blazer is kept intact, while also bolstered by a luxurious look and feel.
Upholstery Unlimited installed a gorgeous tan leather interior in the Blazer.
“We first started building Blazers a few years back, and they’ve really taken off in popularity since then,” said Ringbrothers co-owner Jim Ring. “There is no assembly line at our shop, as each build is completed by hand, bespoke to the owner’s request. There is no other Blazer in the world like this one.”
One feature that stands out about this K5 is its drivetrain. The Ringbrothers started with a 6.2-liter LS3 V8, generating 430 horsepower. Mated to it is a more modern 4L80-E transmission, giving the driver smoother gearing than the old K5 came with.
Inside, Upholstery Unlimited installed a bespoke tan interior. It complements the deep navy blue paint on the outside and undoubtedly makes for a comfortable ride in the Blazer.
“We’re humbled that people continue to come to us for special projects like this,” said Ringbrothers co-owner Mike Ring. “We realize that our customers could get a new Ferrari or Lamborghini but choose us instead. It’s an honor we don’t take lightly, so we put our heart into each project. We’re glad Future appreciates that.”
