BMR Corvette Drivetrain Mounts Put More Power To The Pavement

While the primary goal of LSX is to cover the world’s greatest V8s, our tech discussion often revolves around anything and everything related to making your LS- or LT-powered vehicle an all-around better performer. To truly experience high-horsepower, high-performance driving, one must go beyond just bolting up a big ole V8 and flooring the go pedal. The components that maximize the efficiency of added power are just as important as the added power, and that’s where high-quality products like BMR drivetrain mounts really shine.

There are many reasons the Corvette made the switch to a transaxle almost 30 years ago. Moving the transmission to the back of the car provided better packaging, increased rigidity, and created better weight distribution. But there’s also a substantial improvement in traction. We all know that the faster and more efficiently a car puts power to the ground, the better it performs. That’s especially true for drivers who are actually skilled enough to utilize the Corvette’s full performance envelope.

But what about when the driver’s skill surpasses the car’s ability? Factory engine and drivetrain mounts are engineered to flex, which means that every time someone dumps the clutch, nails the throttle or shifts quickly, the car’s drivetrain reacts against its factory mounts. Available with either Derlin or polyurethane bushings, BMR’s C6 and C7 Corvette transmission mount kits are specifically engineered to minimize deflection and virtually eliminate drivetrain movement under load.

Built around laser-cut 3/16-inch steel and your choice of either Derlin (P/Ns TM561 and TM571) or polyurethane (P/Ns TM560 and TM570) bushings, BMR’s C6 and C7 Corvette transmission mount kits are specifically engineered to minimize deflection and virtually eliminate drivetrain movement under load. For high-horsepower cars, drag cars, autocross warriors, or road course setups, that could mean the difference between a big payday and a big disappointment. In competition, your car’s drivetrain needs to be as immediate as possible, and with BMR’s kits, a skilled driver can improve reaction times, get better throttle response, and make manual shifts more precise. Serious competitors can also pair those transmission mounts with polyurethane (P/N MM550) or Derlin (P/N MM551) motor mounts, applying the same basic philosophy to the car’s engine to stiffen up its entire torque tube.

The mounts are designed and manufactured right here in America, with the polyurethane units geared more toward the street and the Derlin units being ideal for track and competition cars. Every mount comes powder-coated for longevity and durability. All of the kits maintain the Corvette’s factory transmission and engine height, so as not to alter drivetrain positioning or geometry. And, according to BMR, they can be installed in around two to three hours.
